| Allegiant Travel Is Going Places Trader Mark submits:I continue to be in awe of how well Allegiant Travel (ALGT) is doing - having monopoly status on almost all their routes sure helps. $140 oil does not knock them out, a contracting Las Vegas visitation situation does not knock them out, a bad economy for consumer discretionary does not knock them out.As we wrote in our weekly summary they already preannounced last week that they would beat the number, so no surprise, but the individual metrics continue to impress even as we look beyond the top line figures of revenue and earnings. I was hoping for some sort of sell-the-news reaction - nothing. Chrysler: A Sub Rosa by Any Other Name BoneYard submits:The latest news in the Chrysler drama was Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg saying the bankruptcy judge's orders allowing the sale "are stayed pending further order" by her or by the Supreme Court. This is the event that most said would not happen. Likely it is an administrative extension so the court can determine whether Indiana's request has merits. Hopefully it will lead to the restoration of creditors rights.Many, including myself, have opined that the 363b sale is a sub rosa bankruptcy plan. For informational purposes, a "sub rosa plan" is a term that recognizes the effect that a Section 363 sale of assets can have on the DIP's reorganization efforts. In Chapter 11, creditors get certain protections as part of the Chapter 11 Plan confirmation process, including a formal disclosure statement, the right to vote on the Plan, and make legal objections to the proposed manner of distribution under the "absolute priority rule", etc. The sale of assets under Section 363 has rules and is done under bankruptcy court supervision, but it does not include all of the creditor protections that are part of the Plan confirmation process.Complete Story » seekingalpha.com |

It makes $1 billion available for Americans that trade their fuel inefficient vehicles for brand new, greener ones.Some dealerships have accepted cars in the program since July 1. However, most dealers were waiting for Friday in order to closely examine the program's final guidelines released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealership interest was so great on Friday and Saturday that the Fed's computer certification system crashed several times. Ford: Early Front Runner for Stock of the Year Eddy Elfenbein submits: I’m being a bit premature, but I’m going to go ahead and call Ford Motor (F) my 2009 Stock of the Year.Think of what this stock has been through. Shares of F closed out 2008 at just $2.29 a share. As of Wednesday, the stock broke above $9 to reach a high of $9.14.
