Rick Newman submits:Notice who's not getting grilled these days?Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has managed to testify before Congress without generating any headlines at all about giving billions to AIG. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is doing soft-news photo ops and appearing in Vogue without drawing criticism for neglecting a troubled economy. Most surprising, there's barely a tremor over Wall Street bonuses that totaled $20 billion in 2009, a 17 percent rise over 2008 bonuses. Apparently everybody else in America got a 17 percent raise last year, so out on Main Street they're not begrudging Wall Streeters a modest bump-up.Complete Story » seekingalpha.com |
Rail Traffic Recovery Continues
The Pragmatic Capitalist submits: The AAR is reporting a continuing surge in rail traffic as signs of recovery become more and more apparent. U.S. railroads originated 296,599 carloads for the week ending April 17th. This was 16.1% higher year over year and down 11.6% from 2008. This was the highest level since December of 2008. Ford's Market Share Outlook Starting to Look Bullish
Trefis submits: Ford (F) competes with other automotive companies like Daimler AG, Toyota Motor Corp (TM) and Honda Motor Compa (HMC). We currently have a Trefis price estimate of around $14 for Ford’s stock, about 10% above the current market price of around $13. Trefis members have created forecasts for two key drivers of Ford’s stock over the last week: (1) Ford Car Market Share in North America and (2) Ford Truck Market Share in North America. The members’ forecast suggest that Ford Car Market Share in North America as well as Ford Truck Market Share in North America will trend higher than the Trefis forecast.
