The automaker said that the A1 would debut as a three-door model, but that a five-door sportback version would soon follow. Auto Sales Still Running Rough
Wall Street Strategies submits:Another month is now behind us and it seems that the hangover from Cash for Clunkers took a few months to hit the market. Sales were relatively muted and, after reading the releases, it felt like something was missing.Cash for Clunkers is now a distant memory, and if the previous months were any indication, it would have been a good memory with few negative ramifications. However, for the first time, despite easy comparisons, auto sales showed signs of that dreaded hangover. There is no question that sales have stabilized, but sequentially, every automaker we monitor saw a sequential decline, which is in stark contrast July, August and October. Do Toyota's Problems Herald An Era of Recalls?
Research Recap submits: We don’t want to add to the already overheated panic over Toyota’s (TM) accelerator and braking problems, but should we expect an increase in recalls across the industry as cars get more complex and dependent on electronics and software? On the heels of Toyota’s accelerator pedal recall and Prius braking issues, “In what could be deemed a broader problem with hybrid cars, Ford Motor Co. (F) said on Thursday it would roll out a software patch for consumers to address similar problems with braking reported on its Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models.” Ford’s action came after Consumer Reports said one of its test engineers had experienced what appeared to be a loss of braking power with a Fusion hybrid.
