How Fast Are Legacy Airlines Losing U.S. Domestic Capacity?
Robert Herbst submits:Last year, Delta (DAL), American (AMR), United (UAUA), and US Airways (LCC) collectively operated 85 billion less domestic seat miles than they did 6 years ago. This was on average, a 21% reduction in domestic capacity for each of the airlines noted above. While some of this capacity decrease was picked up by each airlines regional affiliate partners, since 2003 Southwest (LUV), JetBlue (JBLU), Air Tran (AAI), and 4 other smaller carriers added over 84 billion ASM’s to their route systems.Complete Story » seekingalpha.com |
