New 747 Freighter Should Boost Boeing's Commercial Segment
Zacks.com submits: The Boeing Company (BA) towed the first 747-8 Freighter model out of its factory in Everett. The long-awaited freighter is now being put up for test flights. The 747-8 Freighter is the new high-capacity 747 that will give cargo operators the lowest operating costs and best economics of any freighter airplane while providing enhanced environmental performance. It is 250 feet, 2 inches (76.3 m) long, which is 18 feet and 4 inches (5.6 m) longer than the 747-400 series Freighter. The stretch provides customers with 16% more revenue cargo volume compared to its predecessor. Airline Traffic Rises in June
Zacks.com submits: Airlines companies have reported their June 2010 traffic results. Airlines traffic, measured in billions of revenue passenger miles, increased from an improvement in the global economy, improved business travel, international traffic and rising fares. Airlines are increasing their capacity in order to restore profitability and posted higher unit revenue growth for the month of June. The stocks have risen on account of improved June traffic.The low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV) recorded June traffic of 5%, the largest increase relative to its peers, on a capacity (or, available seat miles) increase of 1.9% year over year.
