Why I Am Long Advance Auto Parts
Ron Sommer submits: Like many other Americans, I am holding on to my cars. My wife drives a nine-year old car and mine is six years old. Both are in good shape, requiring only periodic maintenance and minor repairs. To meet my needs, I go to Advance Auto Parts, Inc., (AAP) stores for parts. The company is a specialty retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, batteries and maintenance items primarily operating within the United States. Their stores carry an extensive line of products for cars, vans, sport utility vehicles and light trucks. AAP serves both Do-It-Yourself and commercial customers. At the close of the reporting quarter, the company operated 3,420 stores throughout 39 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The company also sells products over the internet.Complete Story » seekingalpha.com |
Tesla: Great Speed, Limited Range
Kris Tuttle submits: Tesla (TSLA) stock is off to the races Tuesday with a very successful IPO. An expanded number of 13 million shares were priced above the range at $17 Monday night. Of course we have seen this race before, such as quite recently (pdf) with A123 Systems (AONE – $9.82) which traded into the low-$20s before eventually falling back to their Intrinsic Value of about $9/share. Going back a bit we had the same experience (pdf) with Netsuite (N – $13.44), which traded up to $40 immediately after their IPO (which enjoyed an increased size and filing range too) before trading down to Intrinsic Value a year later. Tata Motors Kicks Into High Gear
Horacio Marquez submits: I am constantly hunting for profitable opportunities and I realized months ago that India would be the one major emerging market that would notably accelerate in the second half of the year and into 2011. I was able to find another good opportunity to recommend here. That opportunity is Tata Motors Ltd. (TTM). About a month ago, my colleague Jason Simpkins articulated a view of the Indian economy that clearly details how that country is looking to accelerate growth. The major headwind for India has been inflation - more specifically, food prices. However, India is experiencing a normal monsoon season and will soon see its production of food increase and food prices drop - the recent spike in wheat prices notwithstanding. This drop in food prices, coupled with renewed fiscal discipline, will help bring inflation down from around 10% to about 6% by year end. This is very important, since declining inflation and strong economic performance will allow for capital inflows and currency appreciation. Moody's Corp. just recognized this strong progress by raising India's local currency rating to Ba1 from Ba2.Complete Story » seekingalpha.com |
