China: Astounding Growth in Auto Sales, Introduction of Futures Trading
Patrick Chovanec submits:Andrew Peaple, a Beijing-based columnist for the Wall Street Journal, had two great articles this week, which are well worth reading: the first on the explosive growth of China’s automotive industry, and the second on the introduction of futures trading in China’s financial markets. Beijing hosts its annual Auto Show this weekend, and many of the global industry’s top executives (including Carlos Ghosn) are here to assess the trends and potential in what became, this past year, the world’s largest auto consumer market. Earnings Preview: United Continental Holdings
theflyonthewall.com submits: United Continental Holdings (UAL) is expected to report Q3 earnings Thursday, October 21 before the market open, with a conference call scheduled for 9:30 am ET. GuidanceAnalysts are looking for EPS of $2.16 on revenue of $5.91B. The consensus range is very wide at $1.92-$2.30 for EPS, and $5.40B-$9.40B for revenue, according to First Call. United recently merged with Continental and this will be the first earnings report for the combined firm.
