British Airways and Iberia: A Merger of Equals
Michael Young submits:BA (BAIRY.PK), the flagship British Carrier, and Iberia (IBRLF.PK), the Spanish airline, have agreed to a merger of equals. The new group will become the third largest airline globally after KLM / Air France and Lufthansa (DLAKY.PK) and will operate 419 aircraft to 205 destinations. Research Recap submits: Despite running into some snags, there’s a growing sense of inevitability about a merger between UAL Corp (UAUA) and Continental Airlines (CAL). As our previous post noted, Continental makes a more logical partner for United than US Airways (LCC), which called off talks with UAL last week. Now the focus is shifting to the price and other details of a United-Continental combination. Delta Flies High in Q3
Zacks.com submits: Delta Air Lines (DAL), the second largest U.S. airline, declared its third quarter adjusted earnings of $1.10 which easily surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 95 cents on strong international and travel demand.
