Earnings Preview: UAL Corp.
UAL Corp. (UAUA) is expected to report Q3 earnings on Tuesday, October 20 before the market open with a conference call scheduled for 2 pm ET. GuidanceAnalysts are looking for EPS of (99c) on revenue of $4.34B. The consensus range is ($1.30)-(79c) for EPS, and $4.29B-$4.37B for revenue, according to First Call. On its Q2 earnings conference call UAL stated that it expects Q3 mainline capacity to be down 8%-9% YoY, and consolidated capacity to be down 5.6%-6.6%. For FY09 mainline capacity is expected to be down 9.6%-10.6% YoY, and consolidated capacity down 7.5%-8.5%. This forecast reflects the post Labor Day reduction in international flying. The airline's Q3 shares surged to $7.37 from $3.51, a 110.54% jump.
