30 Investors Bound to Lose Big on GM
Rick Newman submits:If General Motors (GM) declares bankruptcy, some of its investors—including bondholders, other secured lenders, and the U.S. government—are likely to get a portion of their money back. But stockholders, with virtually no protections, will be essentially wiped out.To gauge who stands to lose the most, we obtained a list of GM's biggest shareholders from research firm Thomson Reuters. In general, the largest shareholders are at risk of losing the most. But losses on stock holdings also depend on the price paid for the stock, compared to the price at which it's sold. Will Electric Cars Count as Three to the EPA?
Greentech Media submits: By Michael KanellosThe "super credits" for electric cars were one of the more discussed nuances of the revised CAFE standards proposed by the Obama Administration earlier this year. Under the new standards, car makers will be required to boost their blended mileage to 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016, a 40 percent increase. Is Fiat and Chrysler's Pullback on Electric Cars Bad News for A123 Systems?
Greentech Media submits: By Michael KanellosFiat (FIATY.PK), the new owners of Chrysler, has apparently pushed back the effort to release an electric car, according to Reuters. Fiat has scrapped the Dodge Circuit, a two-seater electric sports car, as well as a plan to make a fleet of 220 electric and hybrid cars.
